TOFGA 2021 Virtual Conference
Sustainable Ag & The Texas Legislature
2/18/2021 - Thursday - 6:00 to 7:00 PM CST
The breakdown of the conventional food system during COVID provides a great opportunity to make the case for small farmers and local food producers to Texas legislators, but it's still going to be a challenge. Come learn about the bills that the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance has in the works to support farmers using healthy soil methods, increase access to small-scale slaughterhouses, provide wholesale opportunities for egg producers, and rein in TDA's intrusive actions towards produce farmers. And learn how you can make a difference, whether on these bills or other issues that are important to you! |

Judith McGeary is an attorney, activist, and sustainable farmer. After earning her B.S. from Stanford and her J.D. from the U.T. Austin, she practiced environmental and appellate law. During that time, she and her husband established their own livestock farm. After seeing how government regulations benefit industrial agriculture at the expense of family farms, she founded the Farm and Ranch Freedom Alliance to promote common-sense policies for local, diversified agricultural systems. Judith has been profiled in the Texas Observer and Edible Austin, appears in the documentary Farmageddon, and has been interviewed on numerous radio shows across the country.
