The Food Policy Council of San Antonio (FPCSA) is a nonprofit organization whose vision is to link all aspects of the food system to expand community capacity and build political will to work together for lasting systematic change and a more equitable food system.

The second annual conference will be held June 12-15th entitled

“Honor the Land, Honor the People”

TriPoint Center,

3233 N. St. Mary’s,

San Antonio Texas.

Schedule:

Wednesday, June 12 we have two pre-conference workshops.

One is an all-day class by “the father of food policy councils,” Mark Winne. Space is limited to the first 30 participants. Who should attend? Anyone who is already on a food policy council, or who wants to start a council or association to influence food policy, or who wants to know how to partner with one, or simply understand how citizens can have more say in the food environment we will have.

The other, a half-day workshop, will be conducted by the Southwest Workers Union at their office and community garden. Exploring Mexican indigeneity and use of native plants is the theme.

Thursday and Friday is a three-track conference packed with informative presentations and plenty of opportunities for networking. There will also be exhibits, a poster session, a book and author table, and a silent auction. This year, continuing education credits are available for registered dietitians through the CPE codes listed with the presentations.

Thursday evening, just a short drive away in Elmendorf, there will be a local food reception at the beautiful Sandy Oaks Olive Orchard.

Saturday we have several road trips for you, including a bicycle tour of community gardens, and tours of nearby farms, an historic restoration project at Mission San Jose, and the facilities and garden of the San Antonio Food Bank.

Separate pricing allows you to select any or all of these options. Use the tabs above to navigate to the descriptions and register for the events you want. We hope to see you there!
